Cop @tumeloabcrazy Blue Skies Album Today!

AB Crazy produces the results of his awaited sophomore album titled Blue Skies. The album also drops in physical copy at your favourite music store today. When we first caught glimpse of the album title, we pondered on what the sounds on the album might be like. Needless to say, they are exactly what you'd expect AB Crazy to sound like.

Being someone I consider very reflective in his music, he opens the album in such fashion on Blue Skies which is somewhat soul elevating with the heavy harmonies in the hook. He reflects on how hard it was for him coming up, letting us into his upbringing and what it took to get where he is right now. Numbers then swings in and I swear you hear it differently within the context of the album. From the emotional opening track, Numbers is well justified as it sounds like the "glo up." In the same breath, AB addresses two faced people, snakes, pretenders and nay sayers in Sorry which is an unapologetic anthem. See, he's had a hard time too and he would like to apologise for your taking offense in his success 'cause he would hate for you to be sour about it, NOT!

As the album continues to play your emotions are on a consistent plateau that weaves throughout the songs thus far. Woke comes off with similar feeling to Sorry, only this time it's more like a diary entry about his work ethic. It also sounds more like an interlude than a song as he croons about staying up all night putting in that work. WAIT! He did a new version of Nobody for the album, sounding more classic and symphonic than what we're used to. This excites us! Looking at the album tracklist we noticed that his loose singles are on the album but the fact that he renewed them for the album synergy is impressive. From the squad anthem, Nobody, to Gang Gang which carries on with the power of numbers, you feel compelled to take pride as he does in his "squad goals."

He takes us on a different trip with Ego and Truth as he weaves stories about his personal thoughts. On Ego he advises on mental strength and resilience in a tough world where even your own mind can be poisoned by external forces. From the hustle, friends, money and many other forces, so much can play at your ego but AB confesses that it's better to stay prayed up to maintain sanity. Good advice! He continues into Truth alongside his common collaborator, Muzee, where he wears his heart in song taking us through multiple tragic scenarios he's lived. You know, sometimes I think we tend to forget that rappers are human too and if anything, this track sure proves it.

Pulling us away from those heartfelt reflections, AB jumps into Never Change which bears resemblance to Sorry in that it's a statement of success juxtaposed by the world outside of you that's not so welcoming to that. Never Change sounds like AB walking back into his old neighbourhood reviewing his upbringing and the people in that environment while reflecting on how much he's fought to remain the same person despite everything. It is commonly said that "fame" changes people but AB Crazy heeds otherwise. Don't let the bullsh% phase you - even though people around you may change as a result of the changes in your life. BARS!

Sealing the album, we wrap up with Grateful featuring Muzee and PdotO which is just perfect. After all that you've been through, good and bad, the only thing left to do is to be grateful for the experiences that have carved you to this point. A perfect, and rather interesting, combination of artists that works really well. Now we truly understand what Blue Skies means. It's all about appreciating life as is, feeling the freedom that comes with pushing yourself, paying tribute to your circumstances but never letting them hold you back. We feel you AB Crazy. Here's to Blue Skies for all of us.
