Maraza the contender for GOAT just dropped 3 new EP's. Yes, 3 new bodies of work. In one of the EP's titled BHEBHE, which we just learned is conceptualised around Zulu clan names and praise poetry, there's a beautiful song with Mashayabhuqe KaMamba called Boya Benyathi and the fellas bring it to life through visual form.
Knowing Maraza and his love for depicting real South African living, we see him drive in the streets of Jozi late at night taking a break from a fire studio session with Mashaya. We see them pull up and are met by a car guard who appears to be a fan; then we see them pulling into the spaza fooling around on the store camera monitor before they head back to work after buying some snacks. The video is very simple to be honest but there's an atmosphere of suspense to it that grips you. The shooting and editing is also very well done with the intentional dark frames through the streets done as though the camera was a spy eyeing the night life. Gripping music by the fellas.
