Can we just say that the key thing to making music is making it time-proof. This here is the story of the legendary Towdee Mac who dropped his project Lesson 1 back in 2012. Yes, a whole 5 years ago and the people have been calling for him to bring it online as they probably lost their copies (we know that we never return CD's that we borrow).
The project is almost like a blast of nostalgia while still sounding fresh as a new project that dropped amongst the slews of new music today. The 10 track piece contains Towdee Mac's brilliant production skills and eloquent rap arrangement. He's got that characteristic Motswako flavour which makes you want to sit through the whole lecture of Lesson 1. We can have our debates about "OG's" being this and that, but if there's one thing that some OG's got it's that finesse that only comes with experience. You hear this in how Towdee kills the verses in his popular Habashwe, then swings into calm sophistication on Motswako For Life. The best thing about this project is also hearing his brothers Khuli and Kaygizm, which completes Morafe, co-sign him which shows the continuity in the brotherhood. Added to that is the legendary Prof., HHP and Botswana emcee Zeus who open the album's intro.
Heading into the lower part of the album we get that grown and sexy Motswako magic with Groovy Luv Letter which flows so seamlessly into Fas' Lebant' Up Tyt. Am I the only one who is getting 2007 Morafe vibes from Be A Star? Mr Hu.'s hook always gave me that Here We Stand atmosphere. Eish, o etsang Short Madala mara? The closing track is also a good send off to the album with him throwing his raps into a time traveling machine to 50 years from now when that will be all that's left of his time on this earth. How lucky are musicians, they automatically live forever. Shout out to the OG for listening to the people ge bare tlisa pula fo internet'eng.
