DeJ Loaf is taking us on a journey of her evolution as she's going through Changes, something I think we can call "growing up." She's re-upped on the swag and her headspace is sounding more liberal with singles like No Fear which indicate that she's coming into her own more and more.
This song has me reflecting on my own life as I turn the leaf of a new year in my life (birthday) which cements the thoughts inherent in the song. DeJ acknowledges that she's definitely advanced from who she used to be, her career has indeed lifted off and she's inevitably shed some people in her life. This is a feel good song of confidence and self affirmation. We like the "new" DeJ. Patiently waiting for more news on her debut album Liberated.
