@BrandonBlvd - Rebel Season I

Brandon BLVD drops off the first installment of his Rebel Season journey. This 5 track mixtape is a prelude to Rebel Season II which will soon follow. 

From the opening of the tape you get a sense of darkness in the prodcution for Sauce which kinda sets Brandon apart from anyone else that has expressed their feelings of "sauce" ownership over upbeat trap beats. As you bleed into Villain you begin to fall into a no gravity zone with Brandon's effected hook and the fleeting keys embedded in the beat. That inherent feeling of darkness is reinforced in the haunting synths in the distant background. It's pure magic really. On Pose there's a high sense of "renaissance" music with what sounds like a distorted harp (or some string) owning the track. Man, who produced this stuff? SHU! Brandon is sounding relaxed throughout the tape as he nestles into the accompanying production of his tape. When You Think You Know Me swings in and he raps about his hunger to make it so bad, the bells in the background paint a picture of a horror zone accompanying the effected voices on the track. The overriding "dark" theme of this tape becomes apparent and intentional. We finally close off Rebel Season I with the partly emotional Came From The Low which recites the odds against him but reinforces the thoughts in the previous track. 

We have no doubt in our minds that Brandon is well on his way to a better place. He just needs to keep blazing his flame and never give up on his clear hopes to make it to the top. About the tape, we completely adore how he draped the whole tape in subtle sounds of a restless life and an unsettled atmosphere. At the same time, the drums and 808's on the tape always bring him back to the present with some trap foundations to them. Bravo!
