In The Stu With @SizweMpofuWalsh Talking Race Struggles x Media Ownership

By @Spokenpriestess on 09/07/2017 in On The Ground

In part 2 of our sit down with Sizwe Mpofu-Walsh in the stu, we continue to dissect the album Democracy and Delusion and what each track from Mr. President II right through to We Don't Care means.

He lets us into the fact that the very first chapter of the book when he embarked on his 3 year writing journey was in fact the one about Jacob Zuma. He also explains his personal experience and perspective on race in South Africa particularly since he is mixed race himself. As we continue to chat we get into the discussion of black ownership again when the issue of media ownership arises. Man, this conversation just reminds me so much of how long this road is. Siyofika la siyakhona bandla? These are powerful conversations that every young person should be having.
