Earlier this year, Kevin Gates dropped What If, his only single for the year since his arrest in 2016. Now he and his team are back with a music video for the track, shot by Walu. The video is very thought-provoking and works well with Gates' powerful lyrics. We see scenes of young black men being threatened with guns by cops, children in the hood and also elders in hospital. The man kneeling down in a room looking at the light from the window might be a portrayal of Gates and him being in prison. While it's not said as to when he'll be released, his wife is currently working on his music and is also busy on Kevin's upcoming album. The video ends with a handwritten letter from the rapper to his fans.
"Dear loyal family,
Disallow yourselves to be troubled in my time of absence. All of the great ones who came before and will come after me: have had to go through this. By this, I am speaking in reference to hardship. A great person is measured by all of the great tests they can undergo and still remain true to who they are. With that being said, I'm home. I love you all. In closing, I remain the same. Forever, Kevin Gates."
