We got the privilege to sit in on a conversation between Dr. Hugh Masekela (yes, you better recognise the stature) and Riky Rick talking about how they became the musicians they are today. Ntate Hugh has so much life experience, you can actually just sit all day listening to his stories. He tells us about how he became a musician, quite by a choosing not of his own. Riky speaks about his hip hop environment as a young boy being exposed to his mother's 2 Pac records and posters.
Their paths cross when we get the stories of what they envy most about each other. Ntate Hugh having a big admiration for people who can play with words such as praise poets and ultimately emcees. Riky Rick on the other hand admires Ntate Hugh's instrumental gifts of the trumpet and piano. He just scored himself free lessons with the GOAT. No, we're not jealous. I lie, we are!
We can't wait to hear more about their looming collaboration but more news of that is on the horizon, just keep tuned to Slikour OnLife. We got you!
